Skoda Karoq - official name of the Yeti replacement


The Karoq shares looks with its bigger sibling, the Kodiaq, and is Skoda's pitch for a chunk of the smaller SUV market and joins the VW Tiguan and Seat Ateca as the third take in the VW Group on the same basic recipe and parts.

It was an open secret and Skoda decided to make it official by publishing a release on the new SUV KaroqThe Yeti will therefore become a legend of the Himalayas again.

While the Karoq has yet to be officially revealed in production form, the new compact SUV is expected to have similar styling to the Kodiaq.

Skoda has announced that their new compact SUV will be named as "Karoq".

In terms of size, the Karoq measures 4,382 mm (172.5 in) in length, is 1,841 mm (72.5 in) wide and 1,605 mm (63.2 in) tall.

Globally the SUV will be available with five engine variants - two petrol and three diesel engines - are on offer.

As for luggage space, we're looking at 521 liters (18.4 cu.ft) with the back seats in place, a capacity which increases to 1,630 liters (57.5 cu.ft) after folding down the seats. Powertrain options on offer with the Yeti replacement aren't known yet. If the client decides to remove the rear seats temporarily, the loading area reaches a maximum of 1,810 liters (63.9 cubic feet). The Transmission choices include a six-speed manual and six- and seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. The range of petrol engines consists of two 1.4 TSI engines and one 2.0 TSI.

The single model range will be expanded later in the year with the introduction of the 140TDI model powered by a version of the 140kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo diesel as used in the Superb range.

Inside, the Kodiaq will feature an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth, and voice commands, as well as Alcantara and leather trimmed upholstery, LED interior lighting, and a leather trimmed steering wheel.

Safety equipment includes elements like a trailer assistant, a traffic-jam assistant, and a front crash mitigation system with a pedestrian detection function.
